Majesty of Man

June 25, 2010

I’d appreciate your prayers as I begin a series (Biblical Men and Women) within a series (The Purpose of Bigelow Church) this Sunday!

But you have caused him [mankind] to lack but little of God;

and with glorious honor, you have crowned him.  (Psalm 8:5, author’s translation)

“The audacity of this text will not go away.  In response to the question “What is man?” comes an answer of majesty:  man is made a little lower than God and is crowned by him with glory and honor.  It is in the context of the praise of God that man has his true meaning and dignity” (emphasis mine).

Ronald B. Allen, “The Majesty of Man:  The Dignity of Being Human” (Kregel Academic & Professional).
