Be Reading That Bible

February 9, 2011

After Rhonda gave us all such inspiration on Sunday to keep on at reading our Bibles, I thought I’d follow up with a few principles for application:

1) Look for the activity of God in what you are reading. What is He up to? He’s not just sitting at home watching ESPN, you know!

2) What does the passage say about God/Christ/Holy Spirit?

3) What does this passage say about the human condition?

4) Is there a promise to be “clung to” here?

5) Is there a warning to be heeded?

6) How is the gospel presented in my reading?

7) Can I remember what I’m reading without marking the text with some type of pen/pencil/crayon? If not, what’s the point? Mark that Bible up!

“A Bible that is worn out usually belongs to a Christian who is not.” (Anonymous)
